Yay! I'm glad you're here now too :D.

I've been largely following your work ever since I saw your piece " The Summoning" hit front page at CGhub. I've caught some livestreams and watched your ImagineFX tutorial too!

Needless to say I dig your works-- your application of color & light and figurative works are ace! Can't wait to see how you make those environments coincide with your visual library.

Hi Anna,

it is really awesome to see you here.

I like the studies, although I would love if you would work out one focal point in them to a higher finish. But then again I don't exactly know what your intention with those studies were.

Also your non-studies are great, the only one that is a bit weaker in my opinion is the one with the dark dude with the sword, since it is too dark in my opinion. I can barely see any details. But maybe that was the goal.

Keep up showing your work, I will check out your livestreams (yesterday I lurked in the dark a bit, watching you working on the forrest dudes ^^)

hi!

great artworks! i know them for a while and they are an inspiration for me:) what i think i can critique is a small thing that has to do with the way you render the personal illustrations. i think you could introduce some sharp edges in some areas to better enhance the focal point. its funny because i do the exact opposite thing. i render everything too sharp and i have no soft edges:))

Hi Anna ! I've been following your work since a long time on deviantart, it's cool to see it there ! I'm especially keen on your characters ^^ ! Your studies are cool too, i would be curious to see one of them pushed a little further.
Keep it up anyway, I hope you'll post more here soon ! :)

Taylor-Payton Yes, I remember you from the livestreams! Good to see you here too :) And don't remind me about CGHub D,:

JasperSandner Thank you! Means a lot :)

Chaklet_Cookiee Thanks <3

Kitty Sincula Thank you :D

Flo Thank you so much! I see what you mean about the studies, and I got right on that :D After seeing your crit I started another environment and I'm planning to put a lot more work in it. These ones were all rather quick, but I should have managed the time better anyhow. Might grab a few and develop them further!
Yeah, you're right, the dark dude is pretty dark (took the Dark Souls inspiration too literally there!). I'll give that one another go as well!

Xin Thanks!

ethanleeyf Thanks, glad to be here :D

Paradise Thank you :)

chazillah Hey there :D Good to see you!

alexnegrea Wow, thank you so much! Can you believe I actually didn't notice the lack of sharpness? Now that you said it it's quite obvious. Starting to focus on that right away. Thanks again for the helpful crit <3

Savi Thank you :3

Silber Thanks! Yes, you're right, the studies need to be pushed further! Will do :D

Now, I didn't want to reply without showing something, but then again I don't want to just dump a bunch of older stuff since it's irrelevant. So here is something I normally keep to myself - sketchbook pages. I'm very reluctant to show these, because they're nowhere near where I want them to be.
They're all done in ink (with a few ballpoint pen ones), to force myself to be a bit more decisive with my strokes. I seem to be misplacing eyes a lot, and while I notice it right after I do it, it still happens. Bad at visualizing maybe?
But ah well, enough words. This is where it's at for now. Trying to get better.

Lovely work Anna! I really like your figures and drawings. If there's something to point out I think you could work a bit more on differing (am I using that word right?) materials, right now in your original work all the different materials in the armor etc. is handled almost the same way. Doing some studies of leather, silk, wool etc and thinking about how they catch light, and the different textures is a great way to learn.
Looking forward to see more stuff from you!

It's a shame you're reluctant to show these sketches as they are pure gold. I love them. Plus it's ink. And ink is awesome.
I would like to be more constructive but I cannot see any flaw as of now so I'm just gonna stare in awe. :)

Hey, Really awesome work. The only critique I can offer is sort of a super-nitpick but it would be cool to see you study and experiment with edges some more. Your finished work occasionally has a few rogue sharp edges where they shouldn't be, in thick shadow areas or out of focus areas , but moreover I think it'd be interesting to see you get soft edges and lost edges in a way that isn't just PS blur. Imagine the scale of sharp>medium>soft>lost, and then try to imagine the edges between them also. I think seeing slightly more subtle edges, especially in the softer>lost spectrum would really push the focus and realism of your work (love the way you turn forms in the harder edges though.) hope that makes sense

Edit: just saw Alex Negreas comment too, and I think you're at the end of the edge spectrum where you'll start capping on how sharp it can be, where the best way to look sharper on the focal area will be to lose in others

Hey Anna,

those sketchbook pages are really beautiful. I love the woman on the first with the skull-helmet.

If I had to crit something I would suggest you tried to re-draw studies you did again from memory and then compare and check what you remembered correctly and what is different. To me it seems like I ground the knowledge more that way, than when I do the study once.

Anna, fantastic work! love the drawings and the paintings. One thing I would hone in on is your edge control with the paintings. They seem super-rendered in place but go fuzzy in others, especially in the backgrounds. Keep inspiring, awesome work!
