Pooka draws!

Postby Pooka » Wed Apr 23, 2014 9:39 am

Hello! Any advice is welcome. I've been trying to get better at drawing for years. Just recently I have improved quite a bit since I have been practicing more frequently. I usually draw animals but I am trying my hand at humans.

I've been practicing backgrounds and painting without lines in some cases since I joined an art rpg last year.

I love sketching and I really like how most of my sketches come out. But the moment I start doing lines or painting them I feel like I ruin them. I prefer painting or soft shading to cell shading any day though.

These are Halberds or axeheads, some beasts I designed. Something between hound and lizard.

More creature design. It's a spirit beast. I based it a bit on birds.

I really like playing with expressions. It's one of my favorite things to do while I'm drawing any characters

Your style is showing. Great progress here. Why not implement fur studies? Also, gesture drawings would seriously improve your mental library in terms of poses, etc. Seriously, great start, keep going and blast those weaknesses! :D

Hey there Pooka, nice sketchbook:D Keep up with the anatomy studies, also don't forget to sketch and paint everything from plants, vehicles, environments etc etc. Start from photos, go outside and paint and sketch, take a life drawing class or just go to the mall and sketch people around you. Most important is to have fun with it, make it your own. Also, that's an awesome Stephen King quote:) Cant wait to see more. Especially liking that last eye study btw:)
